One of the most useful , effective techniques of Photoshop is restoring age-old Pics. This was an assignment by my professor.I would describe the way I restored the below uploaded image.First and foremost, select desired image . Open in Photoshop and create a copy of the image so that you won't lose your work - in case of emergency. According to my selected image, I used Brush Tool(B) , Spot healing Brush( J) and Healing Brush. For the most of restoration , I used spot healing . But , at certain areas of the image, Healing brush was used as it is manual and spot healing grasps the nearby area of the image and applies i.e.automatic. I even used brush on pixel level as you could notice the far left area of the image , because either of the healing or spot healing weren't getting the desired result.Hope my description and my way of applying restoration was helpful.

Textures and Patterns
The thing about textures and patterns is that it took me a week's time to differentiate the both of them and have a better perspective over both of them. Texture are actual variations over a surface.Wood, leather, and so on.... While a pattern is a notifiable regualrity in world or man made designs .These are some of my created textures( using filters) and patterns....... using photoshop.
The Beauty Of Art History Tool-Photoshop
When I was in my engineering, I used to gaze at a lot of images which were patchy, scattered but the subject of the image was presented in such a abstractive , colourful way that it impacted me a lot to make something like that. I was able to fulfil that desire pretty impressively by using the art history tool(Y) in Photoshop .The Tool is kind of patch up where with different brush presets, I could use the brush on the desired image which blotches wherever the brush is applied without losing the color range but masking the detail on the image. You could see it more in detail with the below image which I have worked.
